In the 2002 hit-and-run case involving Bollywood star Salman Khan, it was revealed on Friday that a 1959 method was used for assessing the amount of alcohol in the ac tor's blood.
A chemical analyst told the court that modified diffusion oxidation method, that was allegedly used to show Salman's blood contained double the permissible limit of alcohol, was in fact one of the oldest methods being used.

Post that, the other latest and more accurate methods included gas chromatography, liquid gas chromatography and headspace technology.
In a separate development, the prosecution filed an application in the trial court seeking a direction to the actor to produce his driving licence. Salman's lawyer opposed the application, and Judge D W Deshpande said he would give a ruling on the same on Monday.
Special Public Prosecutor Pradeep Gharat said that Salman did not possess a driving license when his car ran over people sleeping on the pavement in Bandra on September 28, 2002, killing one person and injuring four. He obtained a driving licence only in 2004, as per the record available with Regional Transport Office, said the prosecution.

The actor has denied that he was driving the car at the time. He has also disputed the RTO record. His lawyer, Srikant Shivade, opposed the prosecution's application, saying it was not maintainable under the Motor Vehicles Act.
Meanwhile, a chemical analyst, who had tested Salman's blood sample after the accident, told the court that the forensic laboratory in Kalina was not accredited by National Accreditation Board for Testing and Calibration.
